The move cancels an executive directive by former President Joe Biden, which had quietly extended Harris’s federal protection beyond the customary six-month period.
Effective September 1, Harris will no longer receive federal security coverage. This includes access to ongoing threat intelligence and protection at her residence. Traditionally, former vice presidents are granted security only for six months after leaving office.
