Hyderabad, 5th Oct. Telangana’s ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) changed its name to ‘Bharat Rashtra Samiti’ (BRS) on Wednesday, signaling the party’s entry into national politics.
According to party sources, a resolution to that effect was passed at the party’s general body meeting here. K Chandrasekhar Rao, the party’s president and Chief Minister, read out the resolution and announced that the party’s general body meeting unanimously resolved to change the name from TRS to BRS.
TRS activists gathered outside the party headquarters here, the meeting’s location, burst into cheers shortly after the announcement.
