Jammu, 6th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday celebrated the hoisting of the national flag on the iconic Chenab Rail Bridge, calling it a moment of immense national pride and a powerful reflection of India’s rising infrastructure capabilities.
Sharing his sentiments on X, the Prime Minister posted:
“The Tricolour flies high over the Chenab Rail Bridge! It’s a feeling of immense pride that this bridge seamlessly blends ambition with execution, reflecting India’s growing capability to build futuristic infrastructure in the most challenging terrains.”
Constructed in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chenab Rail Bridge is the world’s highest railway bridge, towering 359 metres above the river — surpassing even the height of the Eiffel Tower. It forms a crucial part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which aims to integrate the Kashmir Valley with the Indian Railways network.
The flag hoisting atop the engineering marvel comes as India continues to assert its infrastructural dominance in difficult geographic regions, particularly in border states. The bridge not only stands as a technological feat but also as a symbol of national integration and connectivity.
Officials have described the bridge’s successful completion and symbolic flag-hoisting as a triumph of vision, resolve, and engineering excellence in one of the most geologically complex zones in the world.
