Several tribal outfits have called for a Jharkhand bandh on Thursday to protest the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Ajay Tirkey, the president of Kendriya Sarna Samiti, stated that 15-20 tribal organizations from across the state will participate in the shutdown.

“Despite cooperating with the ED during the investigation, Hemant Soren was still arrested. We strongly protest this,” he said.
Tirkey also assured that emergency services would not be affected by the shutdown.

“If schools are open on Thursday, we will not disrupt their functioning,” he added.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Soren after questioning him for over seven hours on charges of money laundering in an alleged land fraud case. Prior to his arrest, Soren had submitted his resignation as the chief minister.
