Bengaluru, 27th May. Leader of Janta Dal HD Revanna, who is involved in several court cases, including one involving sexual assault, has been on a temple run to fend off “evil spirits” since being released from prison earlier this month.
The chief minister of Karnataka is dealing with two distinct incidences of sexual harassment and kidnapping. It is thought that his son, MP Prajwal Revanna, is hiding in Germany following the appearance of charges against him before the Lok Sabha polls regarding widespread sexual assault.
Last night, HD Revanna paid a “special puja to ward off evil spirits” at Srimanjunath Swami in Dharmasthala. It’s interesting to note that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy, DK Shivakumar, visited the temple yesterday to do a Pooja in honor of the government’s one-year anniversary.
At the Shiva temple at Haradanahalli, in the taluk of Holenarsipur, last week, Revanna prayed. He went to the Mavinakere Bettada Ranganathaswamy temple later that day.
The 66-year-old lawmaker was released on bail on May 13 after six days in jail. Since then, he has also made visits to Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru. In addition, Revanna is charged with kidnapping a woman in order to keep her from testifying against Prajwal.
The Special Court for Elected Representatives granted Revanna bail on the grounds that his son, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, and not he is the primary target of the serious offenses.
The NDA candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha segment, Prajwal Revanna, is accused of rape, molestation, intimidation, blackmail, and threats by multiple women.
He is still at large, having apparently left for Germany on April 27, the day Hassan went to the polls.
On the SIT’s request, a Special Court for Elected Representatives issued an arrest warrant for Prajwal. The Interpol has already sent out a “Blue Corner Notice” asking for information regarding his location in response to a request made by the SIT through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Additionally, his plea to cancel his diplomatic passport is being considered by the MEA.
