Kolkata, 10th Aug: In a fresh sign of internal discord within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee has renewed his public feud with party colleague Mahua Moitra, calling her “below standard” and “a waste of time.” The remarks, made to reporters on Saturday in his Srirampur constituency, are the latest chapter in a long-running and contentious dispute that has reportedly caused embarrassment to the party leadership.

Banerjee, who recently resigned as the TMC’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha, said that engaging with Moitra was a “waste of time” and that she “doesn’t deserve my attention.” His resignation came just days after a virtual meeting where party supremo Mamata Banerjee expressed displeasure over poor coordination among MPs, a situation sources claim was exacerbated by the public spat between the two leaders.

The feud’s most recent flare-up was reportedly triggered by Moitra’s “pig” jibe in a podcast, to which Banerjee responded with a public post on X, condemning her use of “dehumanising language.” The ongoing tensions have been a sustained source of embarrassment for the party, with both MPs having accused each other of personal insults and disregard for civil discourse.

Banerjee also spoke about his relationship with the party leadership, expressing regret for his previous statements against Mamata Banerjee and confirming that he had received her blessings on Raksha Bandhan. Mahua Moitra has not issued an immediate public response to Banerjee’s latest comments.
