Puducherry, 28th Jan. The Puducherry administration has increased security measures in preparation for the upcoming two-day visit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on January 28 and 29.
In a statement released on Saturday, Puducherry District Magistrate E Vallavan announced that Section 144 (2) of the CrPC would be enforced during these two days, prohibiting the use of aerial devices such as drones or balloons.
The order designates the areas within the boundaries of Puducherry and Oulgaret municipalities as a “no-fly zone”.
The district magistrate warned that any violation of this order would be subject to punishment under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant laws.
On January 28, the vice president is scheduled to deliver a speech to students at Pondicherry Central University, where he serves as the ex-officio Chancellor.
Official sources have stated that Dhankhar will visit the renowned Manakula Vinayakar shrine in Puducherry on January 29, and then proceed to Chidambaram in the neighboring Tamil Nadu to offer prayers at the Lord Nataraja shrine.
This will be Dhankhar’s first visit to Puducherry since assuming the role of vice president.
