Jammu, 29th August. Three terrorists are believed to have been killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The encounters occurred after the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation in response to suspected terrorist movement in the area, officials reported.

The first encounter began in the Machhal sector on the intervening night of August 28-29, following intelligence inputs about potential infiltration attempts. “Suspicious movement was observed in bad weather and was engaged with effective firing by our troops; two terrorists are likely to have been neutralized,” the army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In a separate incident, another terrorist is believed to have been killed during an anti-infiltration operation in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara. The operation started yesterday evening after troops intercepted an infiltration attempt.

In addition to these operations, security forces have also initiated a search in the Lathi area of Rajouri district following information about the presence of terrorists. All three operations were ongoing at the time of the latest reports.
