CT Ravi, national general secretary of the BJP, said on Saturday that those who try to make the national anthem a source of contention are unfit to live in this country, as singing it at any time should be a source of pride.

He stated that “emotionally” Indians will not cause a stir by singing the national anthem, and that madrassas should do so voluntarily rather than under orders.
Since last Thursday, all madrassas in Uttar Pradesh have been required to sing the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana.’ The Registrar of the Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Board issued an order to all District Minority Welfare Officers on May 9, but it took effect on May 12, when regular classes resumed after Ramzan holidays.

When asked if such a measure is required in Karnataka’s madrassas, Ravi said, “It is not a matter of debate…they have to do it voluntarily, not under orders.”
“Singing the national anthem should not be a source of contention. Those who make singing the national anthem a point of contention are unfit to live in this country “Ravi stated.

He told reporters here that singing the national anthem at any time should be a source of pride. “If someone has to be forced to sing the national anthem, it reflects their dedication. Those who are dedicated to the cause will naturally sing and respect the national anthem. Those who do not respect the national flag, national anthem, or the Constitution are only living in this country legally, not emotionally. Those who are emotionally Indian will not make a fuss about it “he continued.
