New Delhi, 20th Sept. Anurag Thakur, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, called the Women’s Reservation Bill as a revolutionary step and stated that if there is Modi, everything is possible. Anurag Thakur criticized Congress playing tricks in the name of women’s reservation.
He stated that the bill was introduced in Congress in 2008 and was referred to the Standing Committee. Even after two years, those around them refused to cooperate. Someone used to refer to women as ‘Parkati,’ and it was said that you never know which residences’ women will visit. The Congress leaders talked a lot of nonsense. At that time, they used to insult women; now they insult Sanatan.
He added, If the bill had to be passed, it would have been done in 2010. But their intentions were flawed and the leadership was also operated by remote.
Anurag Thakur said, Nari shakti namo namah. Overall, Modi ji has taken the revoluSet featured imagetionary step of women’s reservation in nine years, from Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao to making Lakhpati Didis, to the role of women power in policy making, he added.
He said that if we look at the figures, barely 5-10 percent women are represented in the state assemblies, whereas barely 15 percent representation is seen in the Lok Sabha. But the Modi government has brought 33 percent reservation for women. While the Modi government on one hand opened accounts, gave free treatment, free grains to crores of sisters, even after making lakhpati didis, reservation was brought in to increase participation in power and women leadership. Which no one has been able to do till date.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that they used to bring bills but did not get them passed. Modi ji has brought it and also got it passed. That’s why it is said that if Modi is there then it is possible.
Thakur said that I have seen it on the ground. Let me give the example of Himachal. The BJP government gave 50 percent reservation in Panchayati Raj. People raised questions as to where the capable women would come from. Today more than 60 percent of women come for election. You have to give them an opportunity once to get elected and they can also get elected from independent seats.
Anurag Thakur said that there were governments with absolute majority of Congress, Nehru’s, Indira’s and Rajiv Gandhi’s. But, no one gave women their rights. Today the Modi government has done a historic job by giving 33 percent share in power to the women of the country and half the population of the country. I am happy that BJP emphasizes women leadership and development in the organization and government.
This decision taken by Prime Minister Modi to participate in the leadership of half the population cannot be appreciated enough. 33% women’s reservation in Parliament will not only boost the morale of women but will also motivate them to increase women power’s participation in politics, social service and nation building. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam introduced in the Lok Sabha is a decision which will give our women power their rights in the true sense.
He said, in the past too, the Modi government has taken many steps in the interest of women and towards women empowerment, which have brought major changes in the lives of the women power of the country, but today’s decision will prove to be a milestone whose echo will be heard for years.
This decision of the Modi government to give the rights of the women of the country to our mothers and sisters will play an important role in building a self-reliant India – a developed India. Heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this historic decision taken towards the strong participation of half the population, Thakur concluded.
