The state government receives the budget for 4 disaster-hit villages in Pithoragarh district BD Kasniyal

Pithoragarh,11th June. The district administration with the onset of monsoon has begun the exercise as a pre-emptive measure to save the 37 villages in the sensitive border region of Sitaro and Dharchula in Pithoragarh district from natural disasters.
According to the district administration out of these disaster sensitive Villages, the budget to relocate over 100 families of 4 sensitive villages has been received from the government.
“Each family of these sensitive villages, of Tankul, Kanar, Chalma Chilaso and Himkhola, situated in the close Himalayan region of Dharchula subdivision of the district, have been sanctioned a sum of Rs 4.25 lakh for construction of house and cowshed. “said Anand Swaroop, district magistrate Pithoragarh. The DM Pithoragarh directed the officials to adopt safety measures in the respective villages to avoid loss of life and property from natural disasters.
“The disaster in the district mostly occurs during Monsoon months, include landslides, flash floods and cloud bursts. “Said the DM.
According to the district disaster management officer, a total of 38 villages in Dharchula and Munsiyary sub divisions have been declared as highly prone to landslides cloudbursts and flashfloods. The district magistrate has instructed that those families, who have not been rehabilitated must be shifted to safe shelters temporarily during monsoon, to save them from sudden disasters. “We have also instructed the SDMs to introduce public address system, sirens and wireless system at disaster-hit zones to alert the villagers prior to the occurrence of any such incident. “said Bhupendra Singh Mahar from district disaster management office(DDMO)
According to DDMO, to tackle monsoon disasters quickly, a 30 personnel’s team of NDRF has been stationed at Panagarh In Didihat subdivision with one company each of SDRF at Munsiyari and Dharchula subdivisions. “Some 46 items meant to avert or minimise disaster are being purchased with the aim to mitigate casualties and injuries in these disaster sensitive villages during monsoon months, “said the DM Pithoragarh.
