New Delhi, 25th Feb. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is putting on a fun-filled day long “Purple Fest” at Amrit Udyaan in the Rashtrapati Bhawan on February 26, 2024, following the success of the “International Purple Fest, 2024” in Goa from January 8–13, 2024.
The Purple Fest event will be opened by Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India. On this particular occasion, the DEPwD Secretary and the Ministers of Social Justice and Empowerment will be in attendance. At this magnificent location, over 10,000 Divyangjan will also gather with their escorts. The nodal agency for this Fest is Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities.
The “Purple Fest” will feature interactive and fully inclusive booths from organizations that support disability rights, inclusion, and accessibility. The “Purple Fest” will feature a number of important events, including Purple Sports, Purple Cafe, Purple Kaleidoscope, Purple Live Experience Zone, Amrit Udyaan visit, and Know Your Disability.
In addition to the celebrations, guests are encouraged to explore the Rashtrapati Bhavan museum and broaden their horizons while upholding the inclusive culture. Everyone has the opportunity to share their thoughts and perspectives on creating a society that is more accessible and inclusive during this festival. This festival seeks to dispel misconceptions, stigma, and stereotypes surrounding disabilities while also promoting understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. It also aims to raise awareness of various disabilities and how they affect people’s lives.
