The Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing for the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, which are scheduled for next year, ahead of a visit by BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah this month.
Nadda, who is scheduled to arrive in the state on Saturday, will meet with the core team of the party’s Rajasthan unit to assess readiness for the assembly elections. He is scheduled to pay a visit to Sawai Madhopur.
While Amit Shah’s visit to Rajasthan has yet to be finalized, he is expected to spend two days in the state, most likely in mid-April. The Union Minister is expected to visit Banswara, which borders Gujarat.
Apart from attending several official functions and party functions, his meeting with the state leadership was crucial.
Both Nadda and Shah’s visits are expected to energise the state leadership as it prepares for the election after losing the last assembly elections to Ashok Gehlot’s Congress.
Notably, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, a key figure in Rajasthan’s political spectrum, recently met with top party leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The Congress won 100 seats in the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections, while the BJP received 73. The Bahajuan Samaj Party (BSP) won six seats. The majority in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly is 101.
