Srinagar, 21st Oct. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his commitment to avenging the recent brutal attack on construction workers in Ganderbal, stating that security forces will “exact a price” that terrorists will remember for years to come.

During a function on Monday, Sinha condemned the attack, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a local doctor and six non-local laborers, while injuring five others. The incident occurred at an under-construction tunnel in Gund, Ganderbal district.

In a post on X, Sinha stated, “The brutal and savage attack against construction workers will be avenged. I’ve asked the J&K Police and security forces to exact a price that will be remembered by the terrorists and their associates for time to come.” He reiterated his call for justice for the victims, placing blame on Pakistan for its continued attempts to disrupt peace in the region.

Addressing attendees at a Police Martyrs’ Day function earlier in the day, Sinha emphasized the ongoing threat posed by neighboring countries, asserting, “It is still trying to kill innocent people in this region and to destabilize peace here.”

Sinha also highlighted the need for enhanced counter-insurgency operations and measures to combat drug smuggling in Jammu and Kashmir. “We need to stop drug smuggling here. We need to be aware of possible threats. We need to improve counter-insurgency operations,” he said.

Paying tribute to security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, Sinha assured the families of the fallen that their education, health, insurance cover, and other needs would be prioritized. “We are with them for their bright future,” he stated.

Sinha urged the public to recognize and respect the sacrifices made by security forces, noting, “No nation can develop if it is not secure.” He called for unity in supporting peace efforts in the region, stating, “For the peace in the region, I request the people of Jammu and Kashmir to equally participate in this growth process.”
