Chandigarh, 4th Feb. At his Chandigarh residence on Sunday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is expected to give appointment letters to ten state players for the roles of Deputy SP and Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officer.

At 11 a.m., the Chief Minister will present the players with their appointments at his house.

The ten athletes who will receive their appointment letters are Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, and nine members of the hockey team that won the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo. Players Harmpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Shamsher Singh, and Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, are among those appointed to the position of PPS (DSP).

Players Rupinder Pal Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Hardik Singh, and Gurjant Singh of the Indian Hockey Team are among the other players who will be appointed to the position of PCS Officer.

After 41 arduous years, the Indian men’s hockey team finally made it back to the Olympic podium, taking home a bronze medal in Tokyo after defeating Germany in the third-place playoff.

There is no way to overstate the medal’s significance. Indian hockey was bewilderingly declining over the next forty years after dominating world hockey from the 1920s to the 1980s, a period during which they won eight gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the Olympics.

India had not finished on the podium at the Games since their Olympic gold-medal run in 1980 in Moscow.

One of the most well-known figures in women’s cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur, also captained the Indian squad to gold medals at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year and the Commonwealth Games in 2022. Under her direction, India won the Asia Cup for a record seven times in 2022. She is one of this generation’s best batters with 6,745 runs in 296 international games, including six hundreds.
