Hyderabad, 1st Dec: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday declared that the state is no longer measuring its economic ambitions against its neighbours but against Asia’s leading economies. “Our main competitors and role models are China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore,” he said, adding that Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu “are not the standards for Telangana’s future development”.

He made the remarks while unveiling the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision document at the Secretariat. The long-term economic blueprint aims to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047 and raise the state’s contribution to India’s development to 10 per cent. The plan will be formally launched at the Global Summit at Future City on December 8 and 9.

Prepared with the support of NITI Aayog, ISB and other organisations, the comprehensive document divides the state into three interconnected growth regions.

The Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) focuses on expanding the services sector and shifting pollution-emitting industries outside city limits. Flagship initiatives like the Musi Rejuvenation Project and Metro Rail expansion aim to develop Greater Hyderabad as a clean, future-ready metropolis.

The Peri Urban Region Economy (PURE), located between the Outer Ring Road and the proposed 360-km Regional Ring Road, is slated to be the centre of major economic activity. It includes proposals for Bharat Future City, a Greenfield Highway, a Bullet Train network and improved connectivity to Machilipatnam Port.

The Rural Agriculture Regional Economy (RARE) prioritises agricultural growth by treating farmers as partners in development. The region is expected to evolve into a knowledge hub, with the government planning to bring global educational institutions and boost high-quality skill development.

To support the ambitious targets, the vision document underscores the need for stronger connectivity. The Chief Minister confirmed plans for new airports in Warangal, Adilabad, Kothagudem and Ramagundam, along with enhanced highways and port access to attract foreign investment.

Reddy reiterated the government’s intermediate target of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2034. “The plans under ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ are designed to build momentum towards the $3 trillion goal by the centenary of independence,” he said.

A dedicated war room led by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has been set up at Praja Bhavan to oversee preparations for the upcoming Global Summit. The state will invite 4,500 representatives, including union ministers, chief ministers, top industrialists, economists, diplomats, sportspersons and media personalities.

The Chief Minister is also scheduled to personally invite key national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, ahead of the summit.
