Telangana CM Urges Sonia Gandhi to Contest Lok Sabha Polls from State

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, also the state Congress president, met with Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Monday.

During the meeting, Reddy urged Sonia Gandhi to consider contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Telangana.

He highlighted that the Telangana Congress unit had passed a resolution advocating for her candidacy from the state, emphasizing the sentiment of the people who regard her as the ‘mother’ of Telangana due to her pivotal role in the state’s formation.

According to an official release, Gandhi responded by stating that a decision regarding the matter would be made at an appropriate time.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and state Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Revanth Reddy briefed Sonia Gandhi about the various electoral promises being fulfilled by his government.

He noted that initiatives such as free travel for women in state-run RTC buses and a health scheme offering Rs 10 lakh coverage for the underprivileged were already in motion.

Additionally, Reddy informed Gandhi about the forthcoming implementation of promises regarding affordable LPG cylinders and free electricity up to 200 units.

Furthermore, Reddy discussed the government’s decision to conduct a ‘caste census,’ indicating the commencement of preparations for the same.

Expressing the party’s determination to secure a significant number of seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Reddy assured that extensive preparations were underway to achieve this objective.

During his participation in the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Ranchi, Revanth Reddy also met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

He updated Rahul Gandhi on the progress regarding the election promises being realized and appealed for Sonia Gandhi’s candidacy from Telangana in the Lok Sabha polls.
