Hyderabad, 28th Nov. The Telangana High Court on Monday granted state BJP chief and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar permission to hold the fifth phase of his ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ and a public meeting in Bhainsa town of Nirmal district, subject to certain conditions, including that the padayatra be held outside the town.

The Telangana BJP filed an application with the High Court against the police for denying permission to the Telangana BJP chief for a padayatra (foot march) and public meeting scheduled in Bhainsa on Monday, citing the “communally sensitive situation” there.

After hearing the petition seeking permission for the padayatra and meeting, the High Court granted conditional permission for the march and meeting.

The court ordered that the padayatra be held outside of Bhainsa town with no more than 500 people and that the meeting be held three kilometers away from Bhainsa town with no more than 3,000 people in attendance.

The court also ordered that the meeting take place between 3 and 5 p.m., and that there be no provocative speeches or slogans.

Telangana BJP official spokesperson N V Subhash said the party would follow High Court guidelines in holding public meetings and the padayatra.

On his way to Nirmal for the fifth phase of the foot march, Bandi Sanjay Kumar was stopped by police in Jagtial district on Sunday night and told to return to Karimnagar.

According to a senior police official, the BJP leader was detained and returned to Karimnagar after his permission was revoked due to the possibility of a disruption in public order at Bhainsa.

As a precaution, a bandobast has been ordered, and police officers will be stationed (near his Karimnagar residence) on Monday to prevent him from traveling to Bhainsa.

The police denied permission for the march and public meeting on Sunday, citing the “communally sensitive situation” in Bhainsa and other areas.
