Patna, 3rd Nov: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday expressed firm confidence that the Mahagathbandhan alliance would return to power in Bihar, declaring that his son Tejashwi Yadav would soon become the Chief Minister.

Speaking to NDTV during his first public appearance in the ongoing election campaign, Lalu said, “We will form the government. Tejashwi Yadav will become the Chief Minister.” He added that people’s verdict was evident and that a change of government was imminent on November 14.

Despite health-related limitations in recent years, Lalu has re-emerged as a key strategist for the Mahagathbandhan — the opposition coalition led by the RJD, along with the Congress and Left parties. “The campaign is going on very well. The alliance will win. The people are supporting Tejashwi,” he said, as quoted by ANI.

Tejashwi Yadav, contesting from Raghopur in Vaishali district, faces BJP’s Satish Kumar and Jan Suraaj’s Chanchal Kumar in a triangular contest.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharpened his attack on the opposition during a rally in Katihar, alleging that Tejashwi Yadav was trying to “hide the sins” of his father by omitting Lalu’s image from RJD campaign posters. “Perhaps he knows the baggage of jungle raj his father carries,” the Prime Minister remarked.

Modi further accused the RJD of being “controlled by the most corrupt family in Bihar,” while calling its ally Congress “the most corrupt family in the country.”

Bihar will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
