New Delhi, 25th July: A 14-year-old boy was found brutally murdered in a Delhi canal on July 1, a victim of a gruesome revenge plot allegedly carried out by a group of thirteen individuals, many of whom are minors. The boy sustained 24 stab wounds and blunt force injuries, indicating a sexual assault, a police official confirmed on Friday.

The investigation revealed that the murder, which occurred on the intervening night of June 29-30, was orchestrated by Krishna alias Bhola (19). He allegedly believed the victim was an informer for his rivals, the Badhwar brothers, who had assaulted him last year. The Badhwar brothers are currently incarcerated under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for various illicit activities.

Following the discovery of the body, a case of murder and causing disappearance of evidence was registered. The post-mortem report confirmed the brutal nature of the crime, leading to the addition of Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police have so far apprehended ten individuals involved in the crime, including the main accused, Krishna. In a strategic move, three absconding accused, including one identified as Monu and two minors, were traced to a Kanwar camp in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where police disguised themselves as pilgrims to avoid incident and successfully made the arrests on July 18.

During interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to the crime, revealing three more accused – Deepak, Chandan, and Sachin – for whom efforts to arrest are ongoing. Police noted that the accused allegedly took turns stabbing the victim. Authorities are now working with their legal team to ensure maximum punishment, intending to appeal to the court to treat those above 16 as adults given the heinous nature of the crime. Krishna reportedly planned the revenge since an assault he suffered around Diwali last year, suspecting the victim and his friends were informers. The victim was abducted from Veer Chowk Bazar, taken to Munak Canal, stripped, stabbed, and sexually assaulted.
