n a landmark event today in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects valued at over Rs 17,300 crores. The projects encompass a wide array of sectors, symbolizing a significant stride towards the nation’s progress and prosperity.

Among the notable initiatives, Prime Minister Modi initiated the Outer Harbor Container Terminal at V.O.Chidambaranar Port, setting the stage for substantial investments and enhanced maritime infrastructure.

Additionally, he unveiled India’s first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s sustainable energy journey.

In a bid to boost tourism and connectivity, the Prime Minister dedicated tourist facilities across 75 lighthouses spread across 10 States/Union Territories, signaling a paradigm shift in leveraging India’s rich cultural and historical heritage for economic growth.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated rail projects for the doubling of the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Nagercoil rail line and the Melappalayam – Aralvaymoli section, along with four significant road projects in Tamil Nadu, aimed at bolstering connectivity, reducing travel time, and fostering trade and tourism.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi emphasized Tamil Nadu’s pivotal role in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat, highlighting the state’s remarkable contributions to the nation’s economic and infrastructural growth. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu and transforming the state into a hub of development and prosperity.

Prime Minister Modi underscored the government’s whole-of-government approach towards infrastructure development, emphasizing the importance of synergizing efforts across roadways, highways, and waterways to unlock the state’s full potential.

Reflecting on India’s rapid strides in the maritime sector, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significant growth in port capacity, logistics performance, and national waterways, with Tamil Nadu emerging as a key beneficiary of these transformative initiatives.
In a resounding declaration of confidence in Tamil Nadu’s future, Prime Minister Modi pledged unwavering commitment to the state’s development and prosperity, promising to serve with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Shri R N Ravi, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and Union Minister of State, Dr. L Murugan, among others, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards realizing Tamil Nadu’s potential as an engine of growth and prosperity in the country.

In a symbolic gesture of celebration, Prime Minister Modi urged everyone to illuminate their phone lights, signifying the festival of development unfolding in Tamil Nadu under the auspices of the Government of India.
