New Delhi, 21th Jan. On the occasion of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department of the Tamil Nadu government has not prohibited devotees from conducting poojas and giving out prasad in temples, the department’s minister P Sekar Babu stated on Sunday.
The minister’s remarks followed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s assertion on Sunday via Twitter that the department forbade devotees from performing poojas, giving out prasad, or viewing the live telecast of Ram Mandir’s programs.
“Police are preventing privately owned temples from hosting celebrations as well. They’re threatening to take off pandals, according to the organizers. Without formally confirming the information, Sitharaman said in a tweet on X (previously Twitter) that “strongly condemn this anti-Hindu, hateful action.” “Several areas of Tennessee have heartbreaking scenes. People are being intimidated for planning #bhajans, feeding the underprivileged, and enjoying sweets during the celebration of Hon. PM @narendramodi’s visit to Ayodhya. It is advised to cable TV operators that there may be a power outage during the live broadcast. This is an anti-Hindu initiative by DMK, a partner in the I.N.D.I Alliance.”
But Sitharaman was accused of spreading “false information” by a Tamil Nadu minister. “We vehemently denounce the dissemination of misleading information aimed at distracting people from the DMK Youth Conference taking place in Salem. Babu stated on X that “the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department hasn’t placed any restrictions on devotees’ freedom to give food, perform poojas in Shri Ram’s honor, or give prasad in Tamil Nadu temples.” “It is unfortunate that people in office, like Union Finance Minister Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman and others, are purposefully propagating this erroneous information.”
