Prayagraj, 25th March: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to seer Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his disciple Mukundanand Brahmachari in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The order was passed by Justice Jitendra Kumar Sinha on the anticipatory bail applications filed by the two accused.

Earlier on February 27, the High Court had stayed the arrest of Avimukteshwaranand, directing that he would not be taken into custody until the final order. The court had also asked both applicants to cooperate fully with the investigation.

The case relates to an FIR lodged at Jhunsi police station in Prayagraj on the directions of a POCSO court, alleging sexual exploitation of several minor disciples, referred to as ‘batuks’.

With the court granting anticipatory bail, both accused have received protection from arrest, subject to conditions, while the investigation into the allegations continues.
