New Delhi, 30th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the critical role of steel in India’s developmental trajectory by sharing an article that outlines how policy initiatives and innovation are driving the country towards becoming a global leader in the steel sector.

Responding to a post by Union Minister for Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of the sector across key domains of national growth.

“From infrastructure and defence to electric mobility and clean energy, steel is the backbone of a rising India. Union Minister Shri @hd_kumaraswamy outlines how policy push and innovation are shaping India’s journey to becoming a global steel leader,” the Prime Minister wrote.

The shared article, authored by the Steel Minister, details the government’s comprehensive strategy to transform India into a global powerhouse in steel production and exports. It underscores initiatives such as production-linked incentives, increased investment in green steel, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability.

India is currently the second-largest steel producer in the world and is poised to expand its global footprint through initiatives aimed at boosting indigenous capacity, reducing carbon emissions, and catering to the growing demands of emerging sectors like electric vehicles and renewable energy.

The post reflects the government’s continued focus on making the steel sector a key pillar of India’s self-reliant and globally competitive economy under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaigns.
