New Delhi, 16th Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended best wishes on National Startup Day, marking ten years of the Startup India initiative and hailing the entrepreneurial spirit of India’s youth as a key driver of national progress.
In his message, Modi described startups as “engines of change” that are reshaping India’s economy and society while addressing global challenges and creating opportunities at scale. He said the past decade has witnessed a transformation in India’s innovation landscape, making the country one of the world’s leading startup ecosystems.
The Prime Minister credited structural reforms and policy support for enabling startups to enter frontier sectors such as space, defence, deep technology, and advanced manufacturing. He reiterated the government’s commitment to nurturing risk-taking, innovation, and problem-solving as pillars of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Modi also acknowledged the role of mentors, incubators, investors, and academic institutions in strengthening the startup ecosystem. Quoting a Sanskrit verse, he praised the perseverance and dedication of young entrepreneurs, saying their energy will be instrumental in realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Launched on January 16, 2016, Startup India has recognised more than 2,00,000 startups across the country, generating jobs, fostering innovation, and strengthening domestic value chains in diverse sectors.
