Sree Narayana Guru’s Message of Unity Inspires Humanity: President Murmu

Thiruvananthapuram, 23rd Oct: President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the observance of the Mahasamadhi Centenary of Sree Narayana Guru at Sivagiri Mutt, Varkala, Kerala, on Thursday. The event was attended by several dignitaries and spiritual leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, the President described Sree Narayana Guru as one of India’s greatest spiritual leaders and social reformers, whose teachings shaped the nation’s moral and social fabric. “Sree Narayana Guru’s message of unity reminds us that all human beings share the same divine essence,” she said.

President Murmu highlighted that Sree Narayana Guru, a visionary of the 19th-century Indian reawakening, devoted his life to eradicating ignorance, superstition, and social inequality. His message of ‘One Caste, One Religion, One God for Mankind’, she said, transcended barriers of caste, creed, and faith, promoting a universal vision of equality and compassion.

The President underlined that Guru’s temples, schools, and social institutions became centers of literacy, self-reliance, and moral upliftment for marginalized communities. His poetic works in Malayalam, Sanskrit, and Tamil, she noted, beautifully combined simplicity with profound philosophical insight.

“In today’s divided world, Sree Narayana Guru’s ideals of oneness, equality, and mutual respect offer timeless lessons for humanity,” President Murmu said, calling his philosophy a guiding light for harmony and coexistence.
