New Delhi, 3rd March: Domestic carrier SpiceJet will operate four special flights from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on March 3 to assist stranded passengers amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following recent US-Israel airstrikes on Iran.
The airline said the special services will connect Fujairah with Delhi, Mumbai (two flights) and Kochi. The services are temporary and will continue for the next few days depending on operational requirements. Scheduled flights between Fujairah and Delhi, and Fujairah and Mumbai, are set to resume from March 4.
In a statement, the airline said the move aims to support passengers affected by airspace disruptions and cancellations across the Gulf region.
Meanwhile, budget carrier IndiGo announced it will operate four special flights from Jeddah on March 3 to normalise operations between Saudi Arabia and India. The flights will connect Jeddah with Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
IndiGo said the services are intended for customers who were already booked but could not travel due to prevailing circumstances. The airline urged passengers to contact its customer support for assistance.
Air travel across the Middle East continues to face severe disruption, with hundreds of flights cancelled or suspended due to airspace closures and security concerns. National carrier Air India has extended the temporary suspension of all flights to and from multiple Middle East destinations until March 3.
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport issued a fresh advisory on Tuesday morning, urging passengers to check flight status with airlines before heading to the airport. Authorities warned that westbound international flights may experience delays and schedule changes due to the evolving geopolitical situation.
Similar advisories have been issued by major airports in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and other cities as airlines continue to adjust operations in response to the escalating conflict.
