Lucknow, 3rd July. Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, dissolved the national, state, and district executive bodies of all its organisations, including the youth and women’s wings, with immediate effect on Sunday.
Though no official reason has been given, the move is seen as an attempt to rebrand the SP following the debacle of the Lok Sabha bypolls in the party’s strongholds of Rampur and Azamgarh.
The party’s Uttar Pradesh president, Naresh Uttam, however, will remain in his position, according to the party.
“Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, has dissolved the party’s national, state, and district executive bodies, with immediate effect. National, state, and district presidents of all of the party’s organisations, including the youth and women’s wings, have also been dissolved,” according to the party’s Twitter account.
“The party is preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and the priority is to strengthen the organisation in order to take on the BJP head on,” a senior party leader said.
