New Delhi, 5th Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday shared an Op-Ed marking 1,000 years since the first attack on Somnath in 1026 AD, paying tribute to the temple’s enduring legacy and the unbreakable spirit of India’s civilisation.
In his message, the Prime Minister said Somnath has stood tall despite repeated assaults over centuries, emerging as a powerful symbol of India’s cultural resilience and collective courage.
“Somnath’s story is not merely about a temple, but about the unbreakable courage of countless children of Bharat Mata who protected our culture and civilisation,” Modi said.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Jai Somnath! 2026 marks 1000 years since the first attack on Somnath took place. Despite repeated attacks subsequently, Somnath stands tall! This is because Somnath’s story is about the unbreakable courage of countless children of Bharat Mata who protected our culture and civilisation.”
Using the hashtag #SomnathSwabhimanParv, Modi urged citizens to reflect on the temple’s historic journey and draw inspiration from its resilience, calling it a defining chapter in India’s civilisational narrative.
