Social Media Influencer Bobby Kataria Arrested for Alleged Human Trafficking; Extensive Criminal Past Revealed

New Delhi, 28th May. Bobby Kataria, a controversial figure known for his presence on social media platforms, was apprehended on Monday by authorities in Gurugram in connection with the alleged human trafficking of two men from Uttar Pradesh. The arrest followed a joint operation by Gurugram Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Kataria’s residence in Sector 109, where substantial evidence linking him to an international human trafficking network was reportedly uncovered.

The two victims, Arun Kumar and Manish Tomar, recounted their ordeal, alleging that Kataria had duped them with promises of lucrative job opportunities abroad. Instead, they found themselves coerced into unlawful activities in Vientiane, prompting their eventual escape and subsequent complaint to Indian authorities. Their testimony sheds light on a larger scheme involving the trafficking of approximately 150 individuals, facilitated by individuals like Kataria under false pretenses.

In addition to exploitation for illegal operations overseas, Kataria allegedly compelled the victims to engage in cyber fraud on behalf of a Chinese organization, confiscating their passports and other personal documents to exert control over them.

Identity: Bobby Kataria, also known as Balwant Singh Kataria, is not only a social media influencer but also a bodybuilder and businessman. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and boasts accolades as an All-Time Events and State record-holding powerlifter.

Public Image: Despite his public persona, Kataria is associated with welfare and social work, serving as the founder of the non-profit organization Yuva Ekta Foundation, as per his LinkedIn profile.

Online Presence: Kataria operates a YouTube channel under the moniker MBK, where he has courted controversy for allegedly posting contentious and explicit content. His Instagram account has since been disabled.

Legal Troubles: Kataria’s history is riddled with legal entanglements. In 2022, he was arrested by Delhi Police for smoking on an airplane. Additionally, he faced charges for publicly consuming alcohol and obstructing traffic in a viral video. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him by a Dehradun court.

Criminal Allegations: Further tarnishing his reputation, Kataria was the subject of another FIR filed by Gurugram police in 2022. This time, he was accused of assaulting a woman, posting defamatory content about her on social media, and issuing death threats.
