Snowfall in Sonamarg Causes Rise in Night Temperature at Several Places in J&K

Sonamarg tourist resort in Jammu and Kashmir experienced light snowfall for the second consecutive day on Friday.

The Meteorological Department has predicted a significant improvement in weather conditions across the Union Territory. This comes after a three-week dry spell in Kashmir, which ended on Thursday with snowfall in the higher areas and rain in the plains.

On Thursday, snowfall was recorded in Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and other regions in the middle and higher areas.

On Friday morning, Sonamarg in Ganderbal district continued to experience light snowfall.

The Met Office reported that several places had partly to generally cloudy weather with light snow in Sonamarg and nearby areas. However, there is expected to be a notable improvement in the weather in the afternoon, and it is likely to remain dry in the coming days.

From December 2 to 7, the weather will be partly cloudy, and from December 8 to 10, it will be partly to generally cloudy.

The minimum temperature is expected to decrease by three to five degrees.

The night temperature increased in several places in the Valley, with Gulmarg being the only location where the temperature dropped below freezing on Thursday night.

Srinagar had a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius, Qazigund recorded 2.2 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam had 0.5 degrees Celsius, and Gulmarg settled at minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.
