Mumbai, 23rd Nov: The wedding ceremony of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed following a sudden health emergency in the bride’s family. Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack on Saturday morning while preparations were in full swing at the Mandhana Farm House in Samdol, Sangli.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently under observation. Smriti and her family accompanied him as soon as they received the news. The family has confirmed that his condition is stable, bringing a sense of relief amid tense circumstances.
Tuhin Mishra, Mandhana’s business manager, said the decision to halt the ceremony was immediate and unanimous. “He was getting worse so we called an ambulance and took him to the hospital. Smriti is very close to her father, and she decided that until he gets well, the marriage is postponed,” he told the media.
The wedding management has informed guests and stakeholders that all festivities planned for the day stand cancelled. Workers have begun removing the elaborate wedding decorations set up at the venue.
The couple was scheduled to tie the knot on November 23 in Sangli, with members of the Women’s World Cup-winning team and close relatives in attendance. Over the past few days, glimpses of their vibrant pre-wedding events — including Haldi, Mehendi and a friendly cricket match — had flooded social media.
With celebrations now on hold, the couple and their families have urged everyone to respect their privacy as they focus entirely on the recovery of Srinivas Mandhana.
