New Delhi, 9th Nov: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will undertake a one-day visit to Odisha on November 10, 2025.

During his visit, he will participate in key programmes promoting farmers’ income, nutritional security, and natural farming practices.

According to the official schedule, Shri Chouhan will arrive in Bhubaneswar by 11 a.m. and attend the inaugural session of ‘Mandia Dibasa (Millet Day)’ at Lok Seva Bhawan as the Chief Guest.

The event will celebrate Odisha’s leadership in millet promotion and highlight the Central Government’s initiatives to encourage production, processing, and consumption of millets under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a sustainable and self-reliant agricultural ecosystem.

Following the inaugural event, the Union Minister will visit the Sadar region of Cuttack district for field inspections and farmer interactions. He will directly engage with cultivators to understand their experiences and challenges, while reviewing the progress of ongoing agricultural schemes at the grassroots level.

Later in the day, Chouhan will chair a strategic meeting at the ICAR–Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Cuttack. The meeting will focus on strengthening the implementation of flagship programmes such as the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission, and the National Mission on Natural Farming. Senior officials from the Agriculture Ministry, ICAR scientists, and representatives from the Odisha Government will participate in the deliberations to devise actionable strategies for sustainable growth and productivity enhancement.

Highlighting the importance of field engagement, Chouhan has repeatedly emphasized that effective agricultural policy must be grounded in farmers’ realities rather than confined to offices in New Delhi. His consistent outreach to rural communities underscores the government’s participatory approach to agricultural reform.

The ‘Mandia Dibasa’ celebration also reflects the state’s continued efforts in promoting millet-based farming systems. Odisha’s community-driven initiatives in regions like Koraput and Rayagada have demonstrated success in improving both productivity and nutritional outcomes.

Chouhan’s visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to building a resilient, technology-driven, and environmentally sustainable agricultural framework aligned with the aspirations of India’s farming community.

He will conclude his Odisha visit in the evening before departing for Vijayawada to attend further official engagements.
