New Delhi, 3rd Sept: Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit Punjab’s flood-affected areas tomorrow to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and floods.
The Minister will arrive in Amritsar in the morning, where he will first meet farmers impacted by the flooding before chairing a high-level meeting with officials to review relief and rehabilitation measures.
Earlier today, Chouhan held discussions with Punjab Governor and Chief Minister over the phone regarding the prevailing situation. He assured that the Central Government stands firmly with Punjab in this time of crisis.
“Farmer brothers and sisters of Punjab need not worry, as the Centre will provide every possible assistance,” he stated.
It may be recalled that Chouhan had already chaired a high-level meeting in Delhi last week to review the flood crisis in Punjab and expressed deep concern over crop losses. Tomorrow’s visit is aimed at ensuring on-ground support and accelerating measures to aid flood-hit farmers.
