Shivraj Chouhan Meets Sitharaman, Submits Pre-Budget Rural Roadmap

Union Minister holds nationwide consultations, places farmers’ and rural development suggestions before Finance Minister

New Delhi, 12th Jan: Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and submitted a comprehensive report of suggestions gathered through extensive pre-Budget consultations held across the country.

Over the past several weeks, Chouhan visited multiple states and also conducted detailed interactions in the national capital with progressive farmers, agricultural experts, Self-Help Groups, cooperative institutions, rural industries and senior representatives of national-level bodies associated with agriculture and rural development.

The feedback and ideas emerging from these consultations were compiled into a structured set of recommendations, which were formally presented to the Finance Minister to be considered for the Union Budget for Financial Year 2026–27.

Speaking after the meeting, Chouhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is consistently working to make rural India self-reliant and prosperous. He expressed confidence that the forthcoming Union Budget would be encouraging for farmers and rural communities.

He further stated that the Budget for FY 2026–27 would serve as a milestone in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Prosperous Farmers, Empowered Villages’, strengthening the backbone of the rural economy and enhancing livelihoods across the country.
