Sharif gatecrashes Putin-Erdogan meet, kept waiting for 40 minutes says report

WASHINGTON – Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday gate-crashed a closed-door meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after being kept waiting outside for around 40 minutes, as per media reports.

The video shared by RT India showed Pakistani PM Sharif and the Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar waiting in an adjacent room for over 40 minutes while Putin and Erdogan’s meeting stretched beyond the schedule.

Sharif was scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Putin on the sidelines of an international forum in Turkmenistan

Putin and Erdogan’s talks over ran leaving the Pakistani delegation on a standby.

Sharif grew impatient and decided to gatecrash Putin’s meeting with the Turkiye leader after waiting for 40 minutes.

He came out of the meeting room after around 10 minutes, media reported.

The RT India handle on X later deleted the video which had by then gone viral on social media.

Media reported that this is not the first time Sharif was made to wait by an international leader.

Sharif and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir were made to wait for 30 minutes at the White House, as President Trump was occupied with signing executive orders.

Putin had visited India to attend the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.

Russia leader held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He also attended a private dinner at Modi’s 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence where the two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest for 2 hours.
