New Delhi, 7th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep gratitude to the people of India as he entered his 25th year of serving as the head of a government, recalling his oath-taking as Gujarat’s Chief Minister in 2001 and reaffirming his commitment to build a Viksit Bharat.

Reflecting on his journey, the Prime Minister said he was entrusted with leadership at a time when Gujarat was reeling from a devastating earthquake, successive droughts, and political instability. “Those challenges strengthened my resolve to serve people and rebuild Gujarat with renewed vigour and hope,” he said.

Modi recalled his mother’s advice on the day he took oath — to always work for the poor and never take a bribe — a message he said has guided him throughout his public life.

Describing Gujarat’s transformation, the Prime Minister noted that the state, once drought-prone and struggling with stagnation, emerged as a powerhouse of good governance through collective effort. “From lack of water and power to becoming a top performer in agriculture and industry, the people of Gujarat proved that determination can rewrite destiny,” he said.

Recalling his nomination as the Prime Ministerial candidate in 2013, Modi said India was then facing a “crisis of trust and governance.” He credited the people for restoring faith in leadership and bringing stability through their overwhelming mandate in 2014.

Highlighting the progress of the last 11 years, Modi said over 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, while Nari Shakti, Yuva Shakti, and farmers have been empowered through reforms. “India is now seen as a bright spot in the global economy,” he said, urging citizens to take pride in Swadeshi and self-reliance.

Reiterating his gratitude, the Prime Minister said, “To serve our beloved nation is the highest honour. Guided by the Constitution, I will continue to work harder to realise our collective dream of a Viksit Bharat.”
