Agartala, 24th Nov. Tipra Motha Party (TMP) supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma announced that the second round of talks on the Tiprasa Accord will be held in Delhi on December 3. This follows an agreement signed in March this year between the TMP, the Centre, and the Tripura government to address the concerns of the state’s indigenous people. The accord was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Sharing the update on X (formerly Twitter), Debbarma wrote, “I am happy to inform that this is the second official meeting in one and a half months.” He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the interests of the Tiprasa community, stating, “The future of our Tiprasa cannot be compromised… The growth of our region and people has to be more important than the rehabilitation of a few leaders.”
However, a senior official from the Tripura Home Department clarified on Sunday that while the second meeting is planned for early December, the exact date is yet to be finalized.
The Centre has already set up a six-member committee to oversee the discussions. The committee is chaired by A.K. Mishra, Advisor (Northeast) to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and includes TMP chief Debbarma, TMP president B.K. Hrangkhawl, and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Tripura government’s Home and Tribal Welfare departments.
