Seat-Sharing Deadlock Fuels Congress-RJD Clash
Seat-sharing delays strain Bihar’s Opposition alliance; Congress fields rival candidates despite unity calls.

Patna, 18th Oct: Tensions are rising within Bihar’s Opposition Grand Alliance as seat-sharing talks remain unresolved, prompting multiple candidates from allied parties to enter the fray and setting the stage for “friendly fire” in several constituencies.
Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera said the alliance would form the next government but hinted that internal clashes were inevitable. “In constituencies where more than one Grand Alliance candidate has filed nomination, one nomination will be withdrawn within one to two days,” he said, adding that the Chief Ministerial face would be announced later.
A flashpoint has emerged in Kutumba (SC), where both Congress state chief Rajesh Ram and RJD’s Suresh Paswan are contesting. The Congress has also withheld endorsement of Tejashwi Yadav as the alliance’s CM candidate, demanding a larger share of seats — reportedly over 70 — before committing.
With nominations underway and the November polls approaching, the alliance faces growing uncertainty and the risk of internal rivalries overshadowing its campaign.
