New Delhi, 6th Feb. The five judges appointed to the Supreme Court over the weekend took their oaths on Monday, bringing the total number of judges to 32 against the sanctioned strength of 34. The oath of office was administered to the five judges by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
Justices Pankaj Mithal, Sanjay Karol, PV Sanjay Kumar, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, and Manoj Misra have been appointed.
On December 13, last year, the six-member Supreme Court Collegium recommended all five names for Supreme Court judgeships. On February 4, the Law Minister approved the appointments.
