MoS Women and Child Development to head Indian delegation at 64th UN Commission for Social Development in New York

New Delhi, 31st Jan: Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur will lead the Indian delegation at the 64th Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD), to be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Commission for Social Development is a functional commission of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and plays a vital role in promoting international cooperation on social development. Its work focuses on key areas such as social inclusion, equity, welfare-oriented policies and sustainable social progress.
The annual CSocD session provides a global platform for UN Member States to review progress, exchange experiences and share best practices in the field of social development. It also facilitates dialogue on emerging social challenges and policy responses across regions.
India’s participation in the 64th session reflects its continued engagement with multilateral platforms and its commitment to constructive dialogue on global social policy priorities. During the visit, the Indian delegation will also interact with UN agencies and representatives of other Member States on issues related to inclusive development and social welfare.
