The ‘satta markets’ of Hapur, Lucknow, and Delhi predict the BJP will return to power in Uttar Pradesh, albeit with a skewed majority of 220 seats.
The bookies who run the satta bazaar predicted the BJP would win 230 seats in the crucial state in January. But noted that the total would later change with each phase – the state went for a seven-phased election. IANS said that they do not want to be identified. No party has returned to power in the state in the last 21 years, and if the bookies’ prediction comes true, the BJP will start a new trend.
The bookmakers expected that the BJP would win with a majority after suffering early defeats.
IANS contacted various bookmakers to find out who they thought would be the other contenders, and all predicted that the Samajwadi Party would emerge as the largest opposition party with 135 to 140 seats. They had assigned it 130 seats in the early trends of the elections. “The Samajwadi Party is growing in popularity. They will be given an additional ten seats “explained the bookmaker.
Both the BJP and the Samajwadi Party are being offered 100 for 100 by bookmakers. The Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are not included in the bookies’ calculations, who told IANS that both of these parties are “merely mute spectators” in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
They are, however, granting the Bahujan Samaj Party 15 seats. To avoid being raided by the police, the satta bazaar relies on specialists and hired services to operate their operations, and they only serve loyal consumers.
