BELAGAVI, 5th March: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday participated as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the Rajagopuram, Kalasarohan and Mahakumbhabhishekam ceremony at the Sri Veerabhadreshwar Temple in Yadur, Belagavi district of Karnataka.

Addressing the gathering at Shree Kshetra Yaduru, the Vice-President described the event as a moment of spiritual resurgence and a reaffirmation of India’s civilizational heritage.

He said Bharat is not merely a nation but a living civilization — a continuous flow of consciousness from the Indus Valley to Kanyakumari. He noted that the land where the wisdom of the Vedas emerged and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita continue to guide humanity represents a timeless spiritual tradition.

Emphasizing India’s cultural ethos, Radhakrishnan said Hindu consciousness is not confined to rituals but represents a holistic way of life rooted in the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the world is one family.

The Vice-President also highlighted the important role of the Veera-Shaiva Lingayat tradition in promoting spiritual awareness, education and social upliftment across Karnataka and neighbouring Maharashtra.

He noted that Lingayat mutts and temples have historically played a transformative role in nurturing values of faith, service and social harmony.

Paying tribute to the spiritual vision of Shiva Yogi Shri Kadasiddheshwar Swamiji, he said the rediscovery and revival of the sacred site reaffirmed the enduring strength of Sanatana Dharma.

“Sanatana Dharma may be tested by time, but it can never be erased,” the Vice-President said.

Referring to the vision of Narendra Modi of “Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi,” he said India’s development and cultural heritage must progress together. He added that the country is advancing as a technologically strong and globally influential nation while remaining firmly rooted in its civilizational values.

Describing the inauguration of the Rajagopuram as a symbol of faith and continuity of tradition, the Vice-President said the revival of sacred spaces is not merely about architecture but about restoring cultural confidence and spiritual awareness.

The ceremony was attended by Thawarchand Gehlot, Karnataka minister M. B. Patil, Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi, religious leaders and a large number of devotees.
