Mumbai/New Delhi, 25th Sept: Former Narcotics Control Bureau officer Sameer Wankhede, who spearheaded the 2021 cruise drug-bust that led to Aryan Khan’s arrest, has approached the Delhi High Court against Netflix and Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment.

Wankhede alleges the satirical web series The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, created and co-written by Aryan Khan and featuring Bobby Deol, defames him by portraying a character “heavily inspired” by him as a rogue officer targeting Bollywood celebrities for drug use. He is seeking ₹2 crore in damages and a halt to the show’s streaming.

The former officer argues the series was “deliberately conceptualised and executed” to malign his reputation. His petition follows a separate complaint filed earlier this month against former model Namrata Shroff for allegedly spreading falsehoods about high-profile cases he handled.

Wankhede gained national attention in October 2021 after Aryan Khan and six others were detained during a raid on a Mumbai cruise ship. The 24-year-old son of Shah Rukh Khan spent 22 days in jail before the Bombay High Court granted bail, eventually clearing him of all charges when investigators found no drugs in his possession.

The case drew massive media scrutiny and political speculation, including accusations that Wankhede targeted Aryan Khan because of his celebrity status and sought bribes for his release—claims he denies as politically motivated. The probe into Wankhede’s conduct remains open, with the Narcotics Control Bureau earlier replacing the officer heading the inquiry, calling it a routine transfer.

The Delhi High Court is expected to hear Wankhede’s plea in the coming days.
