New Delhi, 26th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the national Veer Baal Diwas programme at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, paying homage to the four Sahibzades of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and describing them as the eternal flame of India’s courage and civilisational strength.
“The Sahibzades are the pride of our nation. They embody the highest ideals of valour and indomitable courage,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the ideals of Mata Gujri Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the four Sahibzades continue to give strength to every Indian.
Recalling their martyrdom, Modi said the Sahibzades stood fearlessly against the Mughal empire’s religious fanaticism and tyranny, proving that India’s spirit cannot be crushed by force. He noted that Veer Baal Diwas has now become a national platform to inspire younger generations with this legacy of courage and sacrifice.
At the event, 20 children from across the country were honoured with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for achievements in bravery, innovation, social service, environment, sports, art and culture. Modi said the honour also belongs to the parents, teachers and mentors who shaped them.
The Prime Minister said India has resolved to completely free itself from the colonial mindset that suppressed the nation’s heroes and traditions for decades. He asserted that India will no longer allow its sacrifices, culture and civilisational values to be sidelined.
Pointing to Parliament, Modi highlighted that nearly 160 speeches were delivered in Indian languages during the Winter Session, calling it a rare global example of linguistic diversity turning into national strength.
Addressing youth from the Yuva Bharat platform, Modi said Gen Z and Gen Alpha will lead India towards becoming a developed nation. He urged young Indians to remain focused, disciplined and committed to national goals, drawing strength from platforms such as Digital India, Startup India, Khelo India and Atal Tinkering Labs.
He underlined that reforms under the National Education Policy are fostering innovation, critical thinking and skill-based learning, helping shape confident, globally competitive youth.
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister called upon young Indians to dream big, work hard and never weaken their confidence, saying India’s future will shine through the courage, talent and dedication of its youth.
Union Ministers Annpurna Devi, Savitri Thakur, Ravneet Singh and Harsh Malhotra were present at the programme.
