New Delhi, 26th Jan: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale on Monday hoisted the national flag at Keshav Kunj in Delhi on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day and called for the protection of the Constitution, national unity and India’s borders as the country’s supreme national duty.

Extending Republic Day greetings to citizens, Hosabale said the nation must pledge to uphold India’s eternal spiritual values, civic duties and national dharma in daily life. He said safeguarding the Constitution, protecting India’s unity and integrity, and ensuring the security of the nation’s borders are paramount responsibilities for every citizen.

Referring to the coincidence of Republic Day with Bhishma Ashtami this year, Hosabale drew inspiration from Bhishma Pitamah of the Mahabharata. He said Bhishma’s ideals of rajdharma, prajadharma and duty towards the nation remain relevant even today. He stressed that a life based on character, discipline and commitment represents true civic duty, while protecting the righteous and restraining destructive forces form the core of rajdharma.

Highlighting national symbols, Hosabale referred to the tricolour, the Ashoka Chakra and India’s national mottos, stating that the soul of India is rooted in truth and dharma. He described “Satyameva Jayate” and “Yato Dharmastato Jayah” as guiding principles of India’s governance, justice system and democratic ethos. He said the protection of the Constitution, the tricolour and national unity is fundamentally based on truth and dharma.

Hosabale said India’s Sanatan tradition, reflected in Bhishma’s teachings, continues to be relevant in the modern era and offers a guiding example to the world. He stressed that love for society, compassion, sensitivity towards the vulnerable, and a spirit of service are essential for protecting and strengthening the Republic.

Calling for continuous effort, he said every citizen must strive in every sphere to contribute to the nation’s development. He noted that RSS volunteers have followed this path of dedication and service for nearly a century, focusing on social service, national unity and commitment to national duty.

Hosabale concluded by urging citizens to remain active, alert and committed to their responsibilities in protecting the Republic and serving society, expressing confidence that divine blessings and the grace of Bharat Mata would guide the nation forward.
