President Murmu Inaugurates New Projects at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Lays Emphasis on Women's Education and Holistic Healthcare

Gorakhpur, 1st July: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure projects at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. These included the inauguration of a new Auditorium, Academic Block, and Panchkarma Kendra, along with the foundation stone laying for a new Girls’ Hostel.
Highlighting the university’s inclusive approach to education and healthcare, the President praised its effort to integrate both allopathy and Ayurveda through dedicated colleges and hospitals. She lauded the establishment of the upcoming 1800-bed Shri Gorakshanath Medical College Hospital and Research Centre as a major step towards strengthening public health infrastructure in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Underscoring the importance of philanthropic efforts in education, the President said, “Private higher education institutions working with the goal of public welfare will have a crucial role under the National Education Policy 2020.” She commended Mahayogi Gorakhnath University for emerging as the first private university to support higher education in Gorakhpur and nearby areas, noting its progress within just four years of establishment.
She expressed special satisfaction over laying the foundation stone for the new girls’ hostel, calling it a “significant step toward women’s empowerment”. “Education is the most effective means of empowerment,” she said. “Lack of safe accommodation should not prevent our daughters from pursuing higher education. This initiative will help remove that barrier.”
President Murmu also voiced her confidence in the students of the university, saying that besides excelling in professional studies, they would uphold the ideals of spirituality and patriotism in their conduct.
Concluding her address, she said, “When the people of Purvanchal become healthier and educated, the whole of Uttar Pradesh progresses. And when the country’s most populous state moves ahead, India sets new benchmarks in inclusive growth.”
