Gaya, 22nd Aug: The massive rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bihar’s Gayaji on Friday created a political sensation in the state. The presence of two Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs at the event has further intensified the political stir ahead of the elections. Both of these MLAs are from Lalu Yadav’s party.
The MLAs, Vibha Devi and Prakash Veer, were seated at the back of the stage while Prime Minister Modi was addressing the rally, where he accused the RJD of corruption.
- Vibha Devi was elected as a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Nawada constituency in 2020. She is also the wife of former RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav, who was recently acquitted in a rape case.
- Prakash Veer is an RJD MLA from the Rajauli constituency.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attempted to put an end to the speculations. BJP MP Vivek Thakur stated that everyone was invited to the event. He said, “It depends on how people look at it.”
He added that many departments were involved in the event and several projects were inaugurated. Therefore, all MLAs, MLCs, and MPs were invited regardless of their party affiliation. He mentioned that those who did not show up were largely from the opposition alliance, while those who did attend also had some associations.
PM Modi inaugurates several projects
During the rally, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation of several projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore in Bihar. He also flagged off two trains—the Amrit Bharat Express between Gayaji and Delhi and the Buddhist Circuit train between Vaishali and Koderma. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur and a sewerage treatment plant (STP) and sewerage network in Munger, constructed under the Namami Gange project at a cost of over Rs 520 crore.
PM directly attacks RJD and Congress
Addressing the rally, the Prime Minister attacked the RJD, Congress, and other parties for opposing three bills that mandate the removal of any prime minister, chief ministers, or ministers who have been under arrest for 30 consecutive days.
He said, “If a government employee is imprisoned for even 50 hours, he automatically loses his job, be it a driver, a clerk, or a peon. But should a chief minister, a minister, or even a Prime Minister stay in the government while being in jail? Congress and RJD are opposing these bills. What are they scared of? Everyone in Bihar knows that RJD leaders have always been involved in corrupt practices.”
