New Delhi, 2nd March: Officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), inducted from State Civil Services and currently attending the 128th Induction Training Programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Addressing the officers, the President underlined that their role in nation-building is crucial and now extends beyond district or state-level priorities. She said their responsibilities demand a broader perspective that transcends departmental boundaries and eliminates administrative silos.
Emphasising coordination and collective professionalism, the President said effective governance requires institutional coherence and collaborative functioning. She reminded the officers that they are no longer administrators of specific regions but custodians of governance standards across the country.
Every decision, she said, must align with the larger vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The President noted that IAS officers are expected to implement policies effectively to meet the aspirations of citizens. She urged them to draw upon their experience and uphold the spirit of ‘Nation First’ while navigating complex administrative challenges.
Calling for inclusive development, she stressed that India’s transformation into a developed nation would be meaningful only if benefits reach the most vulnerable and deprived sections. No community, she said, should be left behind due to geographical, social, or economic barriers.
Highlighting sustainability as a key priority, the President urged the officers to champion climate-resilient governance and promote green practices. She said the quality of life of future generations would depend on the decisions taken today.
