Rethinking Development from the Lens of Needonomics: A Dialogue with Prof. Madan Mohan Goel on Women TV India Network
Panchkula, 10th October: Women TV India Network hosted an enlightening dialogue with Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Former Vice-Chancellor (thrice), Proponent Needonomics School of Thought and superannuated Professor of Kurukshetra University , on the theme “Rethinking Development from the Lens of Needonomics.” The session was moderated by Ms. Rajni Bhalla, Former Principal, Higher Education Department, Government of Haryana.
Prof. Goel traced his journey from humble beginnings in Morni Hills to pioneering Needonomics—a Gita-inspired, ethical alternative to greed-driven economics, derived from “Yogakshemam Vahamyaham” (Gita 9.22).
He emphasized that the world must move from Greedonomics to Needonomics for sustainable and spiritual well-being.
Reflecting on his 46 years in academia, he lamented the shift from student-centric to course-centric teaching and urged educators to balance speed with substance.
His leadership philosophy of Needo-governance and innovative Street SMART and SIMPLE Models offer practical tools for implementing NEP 2020.
Drawing from his experience as first ICCR Professor in South Korea, he praised their Palli Palli (time discipline) culture and suggested India blend efficiency with spirituality.
For youth and researchers, Prof. Goel advocated Needo-consumption and authentic, value-based research. Highlighting the SHE (Skills including AI with morality, credibility and accountability, Humanistic approach, towards Existence and Excellence ) and ASK (Abilities of Head and Heart, Spiritualistic , Knowledge more than information on www) Models for women empowerment, he reaffirmed his mission to globalize Needonomics through the Prof. M. M. Goel Needonomics Foundation for a balanced and ethical world.
